Wednesday, September 13, 2006: The
Day
After The Day! |
It's over! I always have mixed emotions about
the finale. By September I'm so tired from watching the feeds and editing
the page, and yet it's Big Brother, which is such a blast.
Then there's the finale, and the two finalists are never who you hoped
for, and you wonder why you watch this silly show.
This year was very different for me. Last year I
didn't feel I could take the 18 hour days required to cover Big Brother,
so Jem and I invented "Team Morty" a group effort of me, Jem,
another moderator, Ranster, and as many volunteer feed-watchers as we
could get. Everything was all set, and on the night of the first broadcast
my Mother died. I was devastated and couldn't get interested in Big
Brother until my team started calling for help, we had server problems and
nothing was working. I spent most of August behind the scenes trying to
keep things going.
So my point is, is that this is really my first year with
"Team Morty." And what a team! I really feel that this web site has
the best group of volunteer writers and support people on the internet.
Let me start my thanks with Jem. Jem got up every day when I didn't.
No matter what time of the day or night I could IM (instant message) her and
she'd be there. In August I had to go to the hospital for a minor
operation, and the site ran so well no one even knew I was gone (hmmm...).
Next there was Smirnoff. Whenever something cool would happen I'd start
writing, and not being a multi-tasker, I wouldn't start recording until after
the best part. I'd IM Smirnoff and she always replied "I'm already getting
it." Amazing!
In previous seasons the task of creating this page
took all our time, and the forums would turn into a free-for-all mess of
clutter and slander. My forums developed a bad reputation, but this
year CeciMom came to our rescue to help keep everything in order and allow me to
do my job without distraction, and how cool is that!
Then there's Dade who has spent what seems like an
eternity in our chat room, making friends, keeping order and solving all
those problems before they start. Dade is also our "Spoiler Scout" and
writes a large part of the TV calendar that you see at the bottom of the forum
page.
This is Nebartist's second season running his
prediction challenge which has helped make this "The most interactive season of
Big Brother yet." My thanks to Neb and we look forward to his other
reality TV prediction challenges.
This year there has more live feed video than ever before
thanks to the recorder built into the BBreloader, but also built into the
reloader was an alert system. If you subscribed to the Morty's TV alerts
(it was free) every time something significant happened in the BB house, you'd
get a message on your screen saying you have an alert. They were
phenomenal. At 2:00AM when the PoV challenge was over, as I was writing
the outcome for this page, an alert pops up on the reloader with the same
information I hadn't finished typing. So who was the guy up 24 hours
sending out these breaking news bulletin? It was Fuskie, the same
guy that entertains our West coast readers with a live play-by-play in our chat
room. Great Job, and thanks.
I want to thank all our forum hosts, Angelo Joe,
DreamAngel, and TV_Paige (Paige does the awesome
TV Talk Show Listings,
and covers all the news dealing with people) Salter-Path who has her own
daily page of TV Dish,
and Yana who's been off this summer doing something political and we need her
back to do more interviews with the reality stars.

The Ramblings of a Grumpy Old Man Every year
it's my goal to report on Big Brother without bias or editorial comment, and
every year I fail. I try to hold my comments to the end, but I
can't. This year, our writers took exception to the fact that I was the
only one allowed to comment in the daily summaries, so their comments
started to seep in. I've said this year-after-year, "You can't be a
fan without an opinion." So even though I didn't keep my opinions to
myself, I did save a lot to the end. You can read what I think
everyone did wrong
HERE.

the
Day! |

Julie Chen talks with Jase Wirey from Big Brother 5 and All-Stars and Lynette Rice, a Senior Writer from “Entertainment Weekly” about
tonight's finale of Big
Brother. See
the video. |
Today is the day! By 6:00PM BBT: it will be over
and Mike "Boogie" Malin will be the winner of Big Brother All-Stars, oh
that's right they didn't vote yet, but you did. Almost 69% of our
readers picked Mike as the winner, and our poll has never been wrong.
Also on the subject of polls, thanks for voting at
Reality Enquirer and once
again making us the #1 Big Brother site. A lot of people spent a lot of
time watching the live feeds and the
to make our coverage possible.
Tomorrow, we'll post the big "Thank You" list of writers, feed watchers,
moderators, and other helpers that made this possible, along with links to some
of the press functions and interviews the HGs will be doing, so you'll
need to come back at least one more day. Also tomorrow, we'll open
our forums up to new registrations so you can all be apart of our Survivor
and Amazing Race chats and other TV talk that goes on in the
Fan Forums, remember: We're
here year-round, don't be a stranger. Next year we're are hoping to
once again expand our capacity so the forums can handle more people, and
I'd like to thank everyone that donated this year, if you enjoyed your
time here and want to donate a couple bucks,
here's that info.
11:07PM BBT: Erika and Boogie are still
sleeping. If you check you quad cam we have a Volleyball game.
There up but most of the day has been FotH. Erika watched Ghostbusters last night, Boogie fell asleep. She's
wearing the same clothes from yesterday - the ones she slept in.
Boogie's ear is still bothering him - wants to see a Doctor before he flies.
Erika says "Thanks, darlin'" when Boogie takes her batteries to the SR
for replacement.
Erika can't wait to see her friend of same name, and her family. She and friend
will hug for 20 minutes.
They figure the flight will be 4 - 4-1/2 hours.
They're going to have "Last Time" dip in the pool after their coffee.
Boogie tells Erika she was snoring this morning at "Chicken George levels." She
doesn't want him telling that to the internet -- "I'm dainty," she says.
Erika was called to DR.
When she comes back out she calls "Hey, gorgeous." to Boogie and tells him it's
his turn.
1:00PM BBT:
Erika now trying on clothes again.
Boogie comes out and they look over his clothes, both for tonight and 'the
thing'.
See the Video
[Thanks KatyDidIt]
Boogie packed up all of George's collections and costumes in garbage bags for BB
to give George.
2:30PM BBT: BB call for a lockdown while Erika was in the
shower. After they made a somewhat hasty exit, Erika shaves her legs
in the backyard while Mike finishes an impromptu meal. Mike
tells Erika she could have been a gangsta (like him?) and laughing about the
lockdown making her get ready in the yard. They both complain about the
heat. Mike can't wait to get out and read a sports page to find out about
his beloved Sox. "Red Sox, where ya at? Yankees, where ya ain't?" [He
better hope he wins because his Sox are in the toilet and the Yankees are
kicking ass. -surfgranny]
Boogie complains about traveling with his mother because she leaves too early
and is too organized.
3:45PM BBT: Boogie and Erika still in the backyard on lockdown
talking about Chill Town's strategy. Boogie told Erika that if Danielle
hadn't gone out the week after James that Will was going to go on the block to
keep Erika safe. [Not how we remember it]
Boogie is saying that he told Will their Showmance plan was overdone because
Danielle and Erika are normal people outside of the house but that Janelle is
someone who uses people and that she would eat them up after the game. He
then started talking about pre-existing alliances and what he'd say if he got
accused and then FotH.
It's quiet, it's dull and here's the video:

Tonight's Broadcast in Color on
CBS:
(A more complete re-cap of tonight's show is available on the
CBS web site after
the show has aired on the West coast)
It was 72 days ago
that 14 All-Stars walked into
the Big Brother house.
Tonight only two are left
standing.
And their fate is now in the
hands of the jury of seven. Who will win the half million
dollar grand prize and be
crowned the ultimate Big Brother All-Stars, Mike or Erika?
This season on Big Brother
Al-Stars, 14 all stars moved
in for a second chance at the
half million dollar prize. The four season sixers picked
up where they left off and
quickly formed an alliance. Big Brother Two winner Will
and his best friend Mike
resurrected Chill Town. In the beginning season
six seemed unbeatable, winning the first four head of household
competitions, and evicting Alison, Nakomis, Jase, and Diane. When season
six finally lost
power in the house to Danielle, Chill Town went on the
offensive, secretly making Janelle the prime target. Janelle proved that she was
the ultimate competitor. Chill Town put a new
strategy into effect, a mission
called "operation double
date." Mike manipulated Erika, and Janelle fell under the
puppet master's spell. Working behind the scenes,
Chill Town played everyone in the house perfectly, taking chill town to the
final four. Finally, after weeks of
Chill Town pulling the
strings, Erika unraveled their
plan and convinced Janelle to send
the puppet master packing.
In the final three part HoH competition, Erika, won round one, Mike won
round two, and the stage was set for Erika
to face off against her summer Showmance. And when the last head of
household was crowned, Janelle
was finally evicted, making Erika and Mike the final two.
Janelle arrived at the jury house, some were surprised, others were not.
Janelle quickly fills them in on the HoH competition and Mike selecting
Erika. Will guessed the outcome exactly: "Third competition, they
strike a deal to let Boogie
win it, sending you home, Erika stabs you in the back" Janelle has an
announcement for the jury: "Erika is a back stabbing
B-I-T-C-H." Danielle asks "You think?" Janelle says that Erika is the ultimate floater that
I
pray to god will not win.
Please, God, do not let Erika
win.
She is horrible."
They get to discuss Erika's game play and if floating is game-play,
or riding on someone else's coattails. Danielle said, "Yes, she was lying, yes, she was floating, yes, she
was having deals left and right. But boogie did the same thing.
She's in the final two. Everyone is all pissed off because we believed her
and we didn't take her out. That's not her fault. That's our fault."
Janelle argues, "At least Boogie was loyal to someone. He was
loyal to Will. Erika was loyal to no one. No one. She was
not loyal to you. She was not loyal to George. She was not loyal to
me. And she was not loyal to Danny." James interjects, "It was
not a team sport."
They realize most of their attention is on Erika, and evaluate Mike's
game, only to find he was quite effective at riding Will's
coattails when he needed but also was strategic, won a competition
when he needed to, lied and all those good things too. They note that
it was it an incredible advantage to come in with his best friend."
Before they go to question Mike and Erika, Danielle has one request,
"I'm just asking and pleading with the jury, do not make this
personal. It's not a good thing. I know how that feels. That's
all I got to say. " See
the video
Marcellas gets to be the first to ask the finalists a question: "I
think I have the same question for each of you. Strategically, what do
you think was your best move during the game?" Erika replies:
"My best move was convincing Janelle to vote out Will. He was the one
I know I needed to get out in order to position myself where I am now."
Mike's reply: "My best move in the game was not using the special
power that I had and keeping Janelle in the game and aligning with her for
the home stretch. I knew if I did, I would only be able to use it on
Janelle or the rest of the house would figure out we were working with her
keeping Janelle in the game was the best move. "
George goes next and asks, "My question to Boogie is this.
Boogie, will you ask Erika's hand in marriage on the live show just as you
did with Krista on Big Brother 2?" Mike replies, "Thanks, Georgie.
I had a great time with her. But I will not be proposing on the
finale. I got to keep my bromance with Will." George asks Erika,
"My question to Erika is this: You kept whispering, George,
you're safe, and in turn you voted me out of the game. How do
you think I probably feel at this point?" Erika replies: "Well,
I know, Georgie, that I told you that you were safe. The week after,
we didn't have a deal, and I knew I had to keep Mike in the game to help me
go further and I -- I mean, I feel horrible, George, but I had
to choose him over you at that point. I'm sorry. I hope you can
forgive me."
Will's up next: "
Ring, ring." Boogie answers, " Hello?" Will: "Hey,
Boogie, it's Will. What's up, man, how are you doing?
Dude, are you in the final two?" And they laughed as always.
Janelle cut to the chase by asking, "Erika, was
kissing butt and throwing competitions part of your strategy?" Erika
responds with, "Well, honestly I have to tell you Janelle the only
competition I threw was the one to Danielle and I knew her and I had a
similar agenda. In terms of kissing butt, I had your back,
I would have taken you to the final two, it was awesome we got
together to try to get out Chill Town. And I really hope that you can
respect how I played the game." Boogie is making some incriminating
faces while Erika answers.
James asked Erika: "Erika, in the house you told
me that on season four you thought Alison's strategy was deplorable and
that's why you could not vote for her in the end because she used the
floating technique and flirtatious to get to the end. How is your
strategy different and why should I give you a vote?" [Good job James
-M] Erika replies: "I really didn't come into the
house looking to flirt or hookup. I actually, honestly just like Mike.
When I came in, I didn't really have anyone. I didn't
technically want to even be a floater. But that was kind of what I had
to do to get through this house. So I hope that you can respect that."
Danielle tells Erika to listen very carefully because this is going to decide her vote. "Was
it your decision or was it Chill Town' decision to get rid of me?"
Erika answers, "Honest to God's truth, yes, of course Chill Town
-- I made them believe that it was their idea but you were the second
strongest player in the house and I could not beat you in competitions. The
only move I could make was to vote you out. " Danielle moves on to
Mike, "Boogie, you looked me in my face and said you were going to be
my Jason. Well, boogie, Jason would have never done what you did
to me. So justify yourself." Mike turns the tables on her with
this reply, "I will make you a deal, Danielle, you give me your vote
to win the money, and if I go watch my Tivo and
if I don't see more than
one Jason, I will give you half. I think James was your Jason. I think
Erika
was your Jason. I think out of your Jason. You were a very dangerous player
that had to go. And I just won't apologize for it."
Howie gets to ask Boogie the next question, "Boogie, you told
me in the house it was bros before hos, Don't you think sending me a steppin'
was going to cost you a vote in the jury house." Mike replies, "I want to give
you the evolution of your demise. When I saw you hang off the spider ropes,
I
looked at your arms, they were bloody, and I said to Will, we have got to
get this guy out of here, and no one is talking about here and he's the most
entertaining guy, he may never get nominated. I deserve a lot of credit on
getting you nominated. I did it on no notice in one minute's time in the red
room. Again I'm sorry for your feelings, but I deserve a lot of credit for
making that happen with Chicken George that day. When the opportunity
presented itself, Chill Town took it." See
the video
Closing Remarks:
Erika gets to speak first: "I came into Big
Brother All-Stars not really knowing strategically how I was going to play. I needed to go after the puppet master. And
I found that I couldn't because
he had lots of puppets protecting him. So what I decided was that I needed
to go into the final four and get that final four veto so I could vote h out
myself. Well, I didn't. I knew I wasn't get to get
Janelle to vote out Will,
he had her so tightly wrapped around him that I didn't think I was going to
get her. Well, I did. And in pure puppet master form,
I had his best friend
put him up and his best girl vote him out. So I want to ask you is this,
would you rather give the Big Brother All-Star crown to the person who did
all of his dirty work or would you rather give the All-Star crown to the
person who took him out?"
Mike's final remarks (he stands): "With the excerption of Chicken
George and Will, I tried
each and every one of you. You all didn't know it but you were all one big
member of Chill Town. There was one big alliance and we were smart enough to
keep you in the positions we wanted to. When you started to figure it out is
when you got evicted. I have a lot of respect for all of you guys, because
the seven of you gave me a little something that you probably didn't even
know. Marcellas, you motivated me, Howie, you entertained me. Janelle and
James, you challenged me, and Danielle and George, you inspired me and,
Will,
you did all of the above. If you can't vote for Chill Town, then vote
to reward my game play. I humbly and
respectfully ask you to vote Mike Boogie as the champion of Big Brother 7.
Thank you."
The jury returns and casts their votes by placing a key in the
nomination box with the name of their choice on it. They each
got to make a brief remark, Howie's comments were notable, "It's hard to justify giving half a million
dollars to a person with six restaurants and threatened their way through a
reality TV show. Erika, we were friends before the Big Brother house. I
still love you but unfortunately, I think America hates you. If either of
you want to continue this discussion with me later, you can at
HowieGordon.com." See
the video
Next Julie brought in Alison, Nakomis, Jase, Diane, and Kaysar. The
first five evictees have been home and watching Big Brother, so they know
all the details the jury doesn't a couple facts Erika isn't aware of.
Julie asks each, starting with Kaysar to reveal something they think the
jury should know, then they show a tape to back up the indictment.
Kaysar tells how James said horrible things about Janelle and broke away
from the season six alliance. Janelle said James already apologized
for the words he used in the in the house. Jase and Diane revealed the
did have an alliance [pitiful]. The most vicious of the revelations
was delivered by Alison to Erika, she started by addressing Boogie, "Mike
Boogie, congratulations. You played Erika the whole
season long, better than Big Brother, you played that
girl.
Erika, I hope you use that
money and buy yourself some
dignity." Then we saw the now famous clip of Boogie in the DR: "Number one, don't ever get
real feelings for the person. Showmances can be effective
for you. It kind of turned into a ho-mance and I'm glad America
knows that Erika is a ho. I have used that girl up
for all I need. I have myself in a position to
n this game and that's all
she was good for.
"
Julie asked, "Erika, what do you have to say
about what you saw?" Erika replies, "I'm sitting here in the
final two, so obviously, it
did -- we played each other.
That's the Big Brother game." Mike said that some of the harshest
comments were ten minutes
after she got Will evicted, and "So, you know, it's an edited television show,
remember that."
The evicted HGs were then asked who they thought
played the best and should be in the final two, they pretty much
agreed it should have been Will and Janelle. See
the video
Last week, they asked America to vote for which jury member they think
deserved to win a $25,000 jury prize.
But first. . . Julie
removed the keys. Marcellas voted for Erika.
Howie's vote goes to Mike. Danielle's vote goes to Mike.
Chicken George voted for
Mike and Will's vote went to Mike. Janelle and James also voted
for Mike.
Mike Boogie Malin has Won Big Brother All-Stars!
The last thing that had to be done was to open the envelope to find out who
won the $25,000 jury prize, it went to Janelle and the crowd roared,
she still America's favorite. See you next July for Big Brother 8.
