Episode #6: " Cherry on Top of the Sundae That's
Already Melted" |
|
The six remaining teams will depart from a windmill in Lithuania, the
pit-stop of the last leg in a race around the world.
Rachel and TK arrived first, and will depart first at 1:00AM to
Dubrovnik
Croatia
Rachel and TK, and Nicolas and Donald were one the first flight out, flying
from to Prague, to Dubrovnik, but once in Prague, they found they
missed their connecting flight, and had to book tickets for an alternate
route. Azaria and Hendekea
of the strongest teams makes a costly mistake by buying business class tickets, instead to the game required economy class.
Ronald and Christina are the first to arrive, followed by
Kynt & Vyxsin. Roadblock: A roadblock is a task
only one person may perform.
Who has a builder's eye?
In this one, they must help out
with the renovation of Dubrovnik city walls damaged in
the civil war of the 1990's.
Now team members must search
through a pile of 150 stones
for one of eight stones that
will fit in the wall.
When they have successfully
completed the task, the
stonemason will hand them their
next clue.
Teams must make their way
to the roof of the Fort of St.
Lawrence and then they'll ride
a tandem zip line to retrieve
their next clue. Detour: "Short and Long" or "Long and
Short." In detour, teams
must choose between two ways
foreign armies might have
invaded Dubrovnik, the choice: "Short and Long" or "Long and
Short."
In "Short and Long" they repel
down from the roof the fort to
the base and follow a marked
path and then using a rope
ladder they must scale a wall.
Once to the top, they make
their way on foot through the
old town to a plaza where
they'll find their next clue. The hard physical part of this
task is fairly short. But then teams will have to
navigate a long distance
through confusing streets to
the plaza. However, teams with a good
sense of direction may gain an
advantage. In "Long and Short," teams use a
tandem zip line to fly from the
fort to the water below.
Once at the bottom they swim to
this floating platform and
choose one of these small
fishing boats, then row around
the city walls to the harbor
and run to the same plaza,
where they'll find their next
clue.
The hard physical part of this
task is much longer, but the
short distance to the plaza is
far less confusing.
Still, teams without extreme
physical prowess may find
themselves lost at sea. Teams must now travel
four miles by taxi through
Dubrovnik's stone streets and
find the stone
cross overlook.
Rising high above the city,
this religious landmark is the
pit stop for this leg of the
race.
The last team to check in here
will be eliminated. Jennifer has breakdown while trying to hail a taxi
(funny). |
|
The seven remaining teams will depart from The Hotel de Ville. This is
city hall, home to the mayor's office was the fourth pit stop for the last leg of
the race. Azaria and Hendekea were the first to arrive at 6:45PM, and
will be the first to depart at, 6:45AM. Teams must now get to the
airport and buy tickets to
Vilnius Lithuania. All of the teams will travel to Paris, France,
there are three connecting
flights. Flying through Amsterdam are
Azaria and Hendekea and Shana
and Jennifer.
And flying through Prague are
Ron and Christina.
Once in Vinius, Teams must hunt for is a clue has to
become a Lithuanian marriage.
Team members must choose one of
the local women who will give them
the package and tell them where
to take it. Traveling by foot through the
confusing strip of the old
quarter team members must find
and deliver the package to the
correct person.
That person will hand them
their second package and one of
four final destinations where is
they will be handed their next
clue. While distracted from their driving, the blondes find their
car in the path of a speeding bus, and just miss getting crushed.
Lithuania is the land of
gnomes.
Teams must scour for a
vacationing Travelocity gnome. Teams must help the gnome return home
by bringing him to the pit
stop.
Detour: In this detour teams have
to choose through two tasks
. The choices: "Countdown" or "Step
up" .
In "Countdown" teams make their
way through the festivities to
a marked section of picket fence. Once here they will count every picket and
reveal their calculation to a villager. If they are correct they will
receive their next clue.
In step up teams must stilt
walk to this finish line.
If a person falls off before
reaching the end they must go
back to the beginning and start
again. When they reach the end they will receive their next clue.
Ron took a nasty spill while trying to walk on the stilts.
Teams must make their way
to a windmill that was built in 1884. This
working mill is a testament to
Lithuania's agriculture past
and the pit stop of this race.
The last team to check in here
was eliminated.

|
Episode #4: " Let's
Name Our Chicken Phil" |
|
Azaria and Hendekea, who were the first to arrive at the pit-stop, were
the first to depart at 7:58 A.M. from . Burkina Faso, a
developing West African nation
famous for festivals celebrating
music, art and film making. The teams will follow a
marked path. Once there they must search for the tribal chief to give them their
next clue and a customary gift of generosity, a chicken. From there teams must travel by taxi
approximately 100 miles to the
town of Bouda Peletanga. As a sign of respect to the tribal chief, teams
must also keep their newly acquired gift with them at all times to
successfully complete this leg of the race. No chicken, no check-in.
Detour: Teams have
to choose between a common African trait or a common
African art form.
"Shake your pan" or "Shake your
Booty." In "Shake your pan" teams must
choose a gold-mining
pits and use the local
gold-mining method to pan at
least an ounce of gold which
they can trade for their next
clue.
The task is physically demanding
but the task is measured by
weight and teams with muscle
could gain some very precious
time.
In "Shake your booty," teams must
learn a tradition Willa local
dance then they will perform the
dance for a panel of local
celebrities, but they must also
include their own creative dance
moves.
If the judges are impressed, the
team will receive their next
clue. However, if the judges aren't impressed the team will incur a
10-minute penalty.
Jennifer & Nathan and
Ronald & Christina got tem minute penalties,
, while the judges were very impressed with
Kynt and Vyxsin.
Teams must make their way
on foot through the village and
find the Pelegtanga market where
they will get their clue. This is the first of only two
U-Turns found along the race
course.
A U-Turn is found at the end of
a detour.
Teams can use the power of a
U-Turn to slow down another team
forcing them to backtrack and
complete the other side of the
detour they did not previously
complete.
Teams can use the power of a
U-Turn only once during the
entire race, so they need to
decide on the best time to use
it.
Shana and Jennifer used the
U-Turn on Lorena and Jason TK warned the girls that their move will
cause them to be a target.
Roadblock: A road block is a task
that only one person may
perform.
In this road block, that person
has to load a bicycle with an
unwieldy amount of supplies
including a potentially
uncooperative goat. Then, team members will ride
their bikes like traditional
local delivery people to this
marketplace where they must find
a different specified vendor and
deliver their supplies in
exchange for their next clue.
Teams must now travel by
taxi through the streets to find
The Hotel de Ville. This is city hall, home to the
mayor's office is the pit stop
for this leg of the race.
The last team to check in here
with chicken in hand may be
eliminated. Lorena and Jason were the last to arrive. |
|
Episode #2: " I've Become the Archie Bunker
of the Home" |
|
The ten remaining teams are in Galway Ireland at the Connemara Heritage
center last pit stop, the teams have no idea what's waiting ahead for
them.
Azaria and Hendekea, who arrived first at 12PM, will leave
first at 12AM, and will be fly 600 miles to Amsterdam. There were two
flights
Nicolas & Donald and
Ronald & Christina didn't make the first one and tried for stand-by,
where the two teams clashed over Nicolas' over zealous posture at the ticker
counter.
Once in Amsterdam, teams take trains to their next clue. Detour:
In this detour, teams
have to choose between two
activities commonly seen around Amsterdam, "Hoist it" or "Hunt it."
In "Hoist it" they use a
traditional rope and pulley
system to hoist five pieces of
furniture up to a typical
Amsterdam residence.
Once all the furniture is
inside, the foreman will hand the
team their next clue.
The task requires brains and
brawn but the buildings are a
few feet away so teams don't
need to travel far.
In "Hunt it," they make their way
on foot several miles to a parking lot and search through
thousands of bicycles to find
the two bikes tagged with the
specific color designated in
their clue.
After finding their bikes,
teams must ride them five miles
to this attendant, who will
give them their next clue, the
task is not terribly physical
but requires tremendous
attention to detail and teams
without keen eyes cowl find
themselves falling behind.
Teams must now travel by bus to the rural town of Ransdorp and find their
next clue in a field, where they'll pole vault over an irrigation ditch.
That clue will direct them to the next pits-stop. Along the way,
Ronald & Christina learned they need to learn how to talk to each other. |

Episode #1: " Donkeys Have Souls
Too" |
|
The twelfth edition of The Amazing Race begins in Los Angeles, at the
Playboy mansion. The eleven teams arrived in vintage classic Cadillacs.
The teams were introduced and the game began!. The first leg on
the race will take them to Ireland. Nicolas and Donald
(Grandpa, Grandson), were the first to depart, and the first to make a wrong
turn. Lorena and Jason were the first to arrive at the airport.
There were limited seats available on the British Airlines flight and Azaria
& Hendekea, Ronald & Christina Ari & Staella arrived later and had to take
an Aer Lingus flight, that due to delays, arrived before the
British Airlines flight.
On the way to a ferry, Jennifer & Nathan had their first of what looks
likes will be many emotional outbursts. Teams must drive -- drive
themselves four miles, then ride a tandem bike along a trail to find
their next clue at Cleggan Farm. On the way, Lorena had her first
breakdown, when Jason failed to follow directions.
Road Block: A roadblock is a task that only one person
may perform. One person will choose one of two high-wire bicycles and
ride it across a wind-swept ravine suspended almost 200 feet along the
North Atlantic, while their partner, seated eight fleet -- feet below
is taken along for the ride. [Really cool task!]
Next, teams had to get a donkey and fill each of its baskets with 15 pieces
of peat then walk the donkey back to the entrance of the farm where they'll
receive their next clue. Nate and Jenn's, and Ari and S donkey didn't
want to cooperate. The next stop with the pit-stop. |
