Sunday, August 4, 2002:  Jason Wins America's Choice Prize
Early AM:  Already Marcellas has slipped.  The guys have all been lead to believe that Lisa is the intended victim of the eviction plan  (that, unknown to them) Danielle has orchestrated, when it is in-fact, Eric they intend to get rid of.  While discussing future sleeping arrangements with Jason, Marcellas said that he didn't think Lisa would want to sleep in the HRD, she'd probably want to be in the Tiki room.  It sounded like Jason caught the error, and said that Eric would probably be in the Tiki room. If Roddy is as smart as he thinks he is, he should have figured this out, and will warn Eric that he's not expected to need a bed after Thursday.

HGs see the promo.

The HGs are told that Jason won.

Jason's Mom reads the letter to America's favorite son.

4:15PM BBT America's Choice:  The HGs were brought into the living room and shown the promo for the America's Choice poll.  This week's question is: "Which HG would you like to see get a letter from home?"  Jason won and received a letter from his mom. Jeez, I got choked up again just making the sound file.  I think the right person won this one..
THE LETTER WITH JASON AND MOM FROM BROADCAST Nicole

5:15PM BBT: Gerry and Jason are in the kitchen making dinner.  Jason says how happy he was to get the letter from his mom, and Gerry asks if he wants to be HoH.  GERRY AND JASON CHAT  Nicole

"I feel like pure evil right now..."

6:30PM BBT: The Plan starts to unravel - Chiara tells Roddy that she was going to vote against Eric, and that she promised Danielle that she would.  Roddy tells her that he needs Eric around, "don't vote him out."  Chiara says "She [Lisa] would hate me forever."  Roddy tells her that she doesn't have to know.  (I don't know if Roddy's stupid, or just trying to con her.  Everyone finds out when they see the DR tapes after they get out.)  Chiara:  "How do you think Eric's staying is going to benefit me more than Lisa?"  Eric:  "He wouldn't put either of us up." Chiara: "... and Lisa would?"  Roddy: "Eric is a guy of his word."  At this point Josh wanders over to them and the conversation ends.  When Josh leaves the conversation continues with Roddy really pressuring Chiara to keep Eric in.

8:00PM BBT: The Surprise Dinner-  Josh actually thought of a good idea.  He brought up the idea of giving Eric and Lisa a romantic dinner for two as a surprise on Wednesday night.  Although it's not clear who will remain, we do know that the loving couple will not be together after Thursday's eviction.  The other HGs are planning what food they can put in reserve for the special dinner, and whether they can get a bottle of wine by then.  Completely aware of their celebrity, Jason says, "Yeah, good idea.  And it'll make good TV too."

11:00PM BBT: Bull Session-  The HGs gathered in the bedroom and talked about the worst jobs they ever had.  Marcellas related an assignment where he was sent out to an airport dressed as a palace guard beefeater, in full regalia.  Then Jason explained how the live feeds and update web sites work.  Jason gets all the facts right.  The other HGs listen intently as they had no idea how the feeds work.   I'm always intrigued that these people go on BB without knowing as much as we do.  Then Josh enters and relates how he's ripped off businesses and individuals in telemarketing scams.  Josh is pure sleaze.  The feed was interrupted by FotH when he mentioned the name of one of his employers.  The conversation continues with more "on the job talk," and an AOL practical joke (long clip).   JASON EXPLAINS THE INTERNET.Nicole
ON THE JOB WITH JOSH AND MORE.Nicole

Tidbits from trashy people: Eric hopes his girlfriend back home understands that he's found someone else.  Josh enjoys both cocaine and pot.  Chiara has done coke with her mom.  When Jason asked if she still does it, she said no, but her Mom still does it with her boyfriend. "You'd be surprised how much of New York Society does it!" After two weeks in the house,  Chiara comments, "I haven't gone without sex for this long since I was 15!"  Other shocking Chiara revelations: "I posed nude for my brothers porn site... I let him take erotic pictures.. it was exciting"  She thinks most marriages could be kept together if only you allowed each other to "screw" other people, and she would gladly let her husband be with another woman or man.

Saturday, August 3, 2002:  Chiara Wins Veto Challenge
" I can't use the Power of Veto.  He'll put Roddy up..."
Roddy and Chiara have been talking about their options.  Here are some of their thoughts:
Chiara could go to Gerry and say: "If I free Lisa you put up Josh, else you'll be gone"
Let  Lisa get evicted, Chiara's  chances increase because what other girls can go…
Anything Chiara does could result in Roddy's eviction.  If she does nothing, Josh could end up staying a long time.   Tell Gerry that if he doesn't put Josh in as the alternate, they'll vote out him [Gerry] next week.

Turn over the squares, the last player with a blue square  to stand on, wins.

Staying outside the box brings a win for Chiara.

Meanwhile; Dani's stratagem is going along just as planned with no one the wiser.  In order to get the numbers she needs, Marcellas has been let in on part of the plan.  This is the most dangerous part of her scheme, as Marc like to gossip and is emotional. Gerry and Josh are the un-knowing pawns that will give her the voting power, and help evict the fab four.  Later Gerry and Josh with be out, leaving Danielle and Jason the winners.  Will her plan work?  Will she be discovered as a double agent?  Don't miss another exciting episode of BB3.

This is your last chance to vote in the America's Choice poll.  This week's question is: "Which HG would you like to see get a letter from home?"  Now if you care enough to waste $.99 (and I don't), call: Call 1-900-740-1000. Phone lines close at midnight.  The results will be posted here tomorrow around 5:00PM BBT.

Tidbits: Marcellas: "I'm just in love with Greg Kinnear"   "I just hate that Helen Hunt"  "I personally think Kevin Spacey is really good-looking.  So if you're watching Kevin, you know how to get my number... Just have your people call my people."  "I think Jim Carey is beautiful, but I just can't stand him." "I just can't get over how bad [George] Clooney looked in 'The Facts of Life'." "I'd sleep with Lara Flynn Boyle." "What other girls would I sleep with? Cameron Diaz!!"  "Who wouldn't sleep with Harrison Ford?"  "I don't like Bill Murray."

Friday, August 2, 2002:  Eric & Lisa on Eviction Block and Food Challenge

Gerry's BB Diner

Big Brother makes Marcy Gag!

Lisa and who?

10:15AM BBT: The food challenge began with Gerry sending everyone to the bathroom to wash their hands.  I wondered if this was part of the challenge, or whether Gerry just wanted to use his power, or if BB was having a little fun.  The HGs then got Red and Blue bowling shirts and went outside to "Gerry's Big Brother Diner."  The teams were: Red: Josh, Danielle, Chiara, and Roddy. Blue: Eric, Marcellas, Lisa, and Jason. It was another eating contest that resulted in half the HGs ending up with a diet of PB&J, and whatever food item they successfully ate in the contest. Before the competition BB asked the HGs to make a couple remarks for the broadcast, BB: "Lisa, I need you to say, 'Chiara, I'm going to make you choke.'" The teams had to pick an eater and bid of how many food items you could eat in prescribed time, then draw for the item.  There were Brussels sprouts, Twinkies, jalapeño stuffed green olives, and chicken livers. The highlight was getting Marcellas to eat the chicken livers, which he did successfully, making the Blue team victorious!. The red team got the jalapeño stuffed green olives added  to their PB&J diet.  Kinda funny how things go, last week Roddy was king of the hill, today he's a nobody eating PB&J.
GERRY AND MARCELLAS DISCUSS PLANS AND DREAMS Nicole

Jason is nervous, he was the last to get his key

5:15PM BBT  Eviction Noms: It's official, Eric and Lisa are Gerry's two picks. For a half hour all feeds were FotH.  This seems like one of the longest nomination procedures this season.  Considering how rare it is that Gerry is asked to speak, I suspect he took full advantage of the opportunity.  GERRY'S EVICTION SPEECH AND DR COMMENTS Nicole

Thursday, August 1, 2002:  Amy is Out!   Gerry Wins HoH!
"Selfish persons are incapable of loving others, but they are not capable of loving themselves either."
-Erich Fromm (1900-1980)
or...
"Ya, gotta know when to hold 'em, know when to fold..."
-Kenny Rogers
Live Eviction: Here are the eligible voters and their decisions:
Chiara: Danielle:  Lisa: Eric: Gerry: Jason: Josh:
Amy Amy Amy Amy Amy Amy Amy

TOTAL VOTES:  Amy got 7 votes, Marcellas got 0

Gerry Wins HoH!

Josh: "Good for you, Gerry,  ya prick ya..."

Amy was this season's first unanimous evictee. Before the announcement, they aired an interview with Amy's friend Angela.  I thought this was interesting because Amy has said numerous times that she has no friends, and when she socializes prefers the company of men.  She took the news very well and I think she's genuinely happy to be out of the house.   The head of house competition was another trivia quiz about the evicted HGs.  The game ended in a tie between Gerry and Eric.  The final question was: "What is the combined height of the evicted HGs?"  Eric answered: 268, Gerry answered:  188.  The correct answer was: 196 Gerry Won.

All of a sudden, Gerry has friends, they're all interested to see what's in the HoH room gift basket.  Gerry says he's an dead-head from way back, and expects a Grateful Dead CD.

7:00PM BBT Nomination chat: Gerry says he already knows who he's putting up for eviction.  Josh is happy about Gerry's win (and I imagine Jason is too) it lets them both lay low for another week.  Josh is pretty sure that Gerry will put up Lisa and Chiara.  Next week's vote could end in a tie (even number of voters), and Gerry would cast the deciding vote.  Danielle's been mingling with everyone, seeing what everyone expects.   Nominations will be announced tomorrow. On the basketball court, Josh tells

Clarice: "Marcellas is not a failure..."

Danielle what Gerry will do, and why.  JOSH TELLS HIS THEORY Nicole.  Meanwhile, Lisa thinks Gerry will nominate Jason and Josh, later she confides to Danielle: "I haven't talked to him [Gerry]  for two weeks so I can't start now.  I can see Gerry spending the week bonding with the guys... Maybe two girls will go up."  Roddy has also talked to Josh who still thinks he can make it to the BB final week, "Josh is delusional about being here to the end.  Does he really think that Gerry will forget about the Nazi comments..."

7:15PM BBT Gerry checks out his Room: His gift basket included: popcorn, black licorice, ice cream, and the U2 CD Joshua Tree

9:30PM BBT Josh talks to Gerry:  Josh goes to the HoH room to do some more butt kissing.  Gerry tells him he's safe.  Josh is blunt and asks who he intends to nominate.  Gerry said it's important to split up the couples.  Lisa will be one of his nominations.  They left the HoH to join the other in the hot tub where the conversation turned to last year's HGs and how Will won. Marcellas:  "Who won the first year?"  Josh: "Some guy with half a leg."

10:15PM Josh continues to work the angles.  He's told Eric that Lisa will be put up.  Eric: "That's fine with me, if she's got to go, she's got to go."  When Josh was done with Eric, he moved on to Roddy. He blabs the whole plan of getting rid of the fab four.   Roddy spends some time with Gerry and tells him that he's the only one in the house he can have an intellectual conversation with.  Sounds like it's getting deep in there.  Gerry tells Dani that won't be putting up two girls.

America's Choice: This week's America choice question is: "Which HG would you like to see get a letter from home?"  Now if you care enough to waste $.99 (and I don't), call: Call 1-900-740-1000. Phone lines close midnight, Saturday.

The Broadcast:  The show included a fight between Amy and Marcellas that I never saw on the live feeds. AMY & MARCELLAS FIGHTNicole,  and an interview with Marcy's mom, Clarice.  INTERVIEW WITH MARCELLAS'S MOMNicole.

BB Boffo Ratings: The Prime time Nielsen ratings came out yesterday and "Big Brother" is now in 12th place!  The press that has always maligned our favorite summer reality show and hyped "American Idol" as a ratings hit, may omit the fact that "AI" is tied with "BB", and in-fact the debut of "AI" scored lower than "BB."   The Thursday live evictions have helped push "Friends" repeats down to 18th place.

Wednesday, July 31, 2002:  DR Eviction Voting Today
The DR clips and voting that will be shown on tomorrow's live eviction were recorded today.  How did they vote?  If you go by what they tell each other, they're sticking to the plan and kicking Amy out,  what they say in the DR is something else.  Amy doesn't want to be voted out unanimously, and Danielle told her she wouldn't vote for her, but she's told others she's voting Amy out.  We'll find out who's told the truth on Thursday's live show.

1:00PM BBT:  Lunch. Each day the HGs have received lunches provided by Subway.  This sponsor tie-in has worked out better than the deal with Citrona®, which the HGs didn't like (but drank anyway).

Roddy chats with Chiara on the pop culture mentality of the other HGs

10:30PM BBT: The guys get facials. It's time to start getting pretty for the live show on Thursday. The guys tried facial masks, the girls are waxing...  The whole effort was coached by, Marcellas Reynolds, fashion expert extraordinaire.  Eric: "Firefighters all over the country are saying, 'What the hell is he doing?'"

3:00PM BBT: The girls settle on a plan to put Josh up for eviction against Jason on the next vote.  They got everyone's word they wouldn't vote out Jason, but they've never mentioned the threat of the POV.  Dani is nervous about the plan, she wants Jason to stay, but will go along with the plan.  3:30PM BBT: Inside LD and Dani explains the pains of childbirth, and breastfeeding.

The Broadcast:  Tonight's taped show answered my question: "What's Danielle up to, and with whom?  The show revealed that she's in a tight alliance with Jason.  Their idea is good, it's to get rid of Roddy.  For this round, they've enlisted Marcellas, Josh, and Gerry, but they're only pawns in their game.
DANI & JASON EXPLAINS THE PLOT Nicole

Tidbits:   The next HG to end up in the news could be Lisa.  She has two maxed out credit cards that she hasn't made a payment on in two years.  This year's winner of Big Brother in the UK is Kate Lawler, the first woman to win the £70,000 prize.  Winners in the UK are selected by phone-in votes, 8,572,373 people voted, 3,106,077 for Kate. BB is the 5th highest rated show on Brit TV.

Tuesday, July 30, 2002: Gerry Washes His Shirt!
The HGs noted that Gerry didn't seem to bring much to wear for his stay.  He seems to wear the same white t-shirt every day.  Today he washed it.

Another sleepy day in Studio City.

The day in review: Once again, I did not take the day off, they did.  The HG's day was filled with card playing, chess and exercise.  The cameramen do find little facets of BB life to focus on, you have to pay close attention.  Today, Roddy was frustrated looking for the salt and pepper.  The cameraman panned over a couple feet to show the shakers were within arm's reach.  Roddy never did see them by the sink.  Speaking of sinks:  After Dani used the john, she returned to the living room.  The cameraman followed her, then panned back for a shot of the un-used sink and soap.  Dani was the most vocal critic of Gerry's lack of hygiene.  This year the HGs have even less to do than before.  In the first season they had to care for the chickens and mow the grass.  The chickens were retired to a ranch (maybe they meant Ranch One Chicken) and the dead painted grass doesn't grow.  The only daily chore this group has is feeding crickets to the two lizards.  Even the HGs have mentioned how dull things have become, but that'll end on Thursday.  And Lisa's butt is still sore.   Stay tuned.

Amy's Dirty Laundry
LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Perhaps CBS should consider changing the name of "Big Brother 3" to "House Arrest."

The dogged document chasers at thesmokinggun.com have found out that yet another contestant, Southern spitfire Amy Crews, has had some issues with the law.

Crews, 24, pleaded no contest to a driving while intoxicated charge in Arkansas in 1999. She's also been cited twice for driving with a suspended license and charged with bouncing a check (for $6.77) to a gas station. The bad-check charge was dropped when she made good to the gas station.

Monday, July 29, 2002: Roddy Gives Amy the Talk
Early AM: This guy is brilliant!  Roddy gave Amy the same pumping up he gave Marcellas last night.  Roddy: "When you were out here singing the other night,  it was so beautiful and so pure...  And I thought to myself that was the Amy I got to know sitting out here early on.  If I had known the Amy I know now, I'd never have put you on the block for eviction."  Yeah, but he's still going to vote her out.  This guy can really sling it!  And I don't mean that as an insult, he's playing a game, playing it well, using psychology, charm and BULL!

He told her how much she's grown, how she's a better person.  And she agrees (of course).  She said she was the baby of the house at home, and she's the baby of the BB house.  She said she's always been spoiled, and used her selfishness has a shield to prevent people from getting close enough to hurt her.

Roddy:  "There was a really great guy in this house that wanted to get to know you and you pushed him away."  Amy: "Who?"  Roddy: "Me, you dummy...  I wanted to be the person for you when you needed someone- and you rejected it.."   He promises her that he will stick up for her and will make sure everyone understands her when she is gone.  He requests an emergency DR conference, but the producers have left for the night.  He wanted to record some nice comments about her.

He crawls into the HoH bed with Chiara and relates his story with sincerity that makes me wonder if he bought his own hype.  He's brilliant.

Josh: For what possible reason did you make that move? What are you thinking?

Roddy: What if I told you I made a mistake?

Josh: I'd say you're damn right you did. And so did your parents.

Eric and Lisa on Josh Nicole

9:10AM BBT:  Wake up call in the BB House. Gerry's been up for a while, Marcellas and Jason follow. Eric has showered and dressed Lisa's spider bitten ass.  The rest stumble about as BB calls them into the DR one at a time.  After breakfast, Josh and Gerry strike up an alliance.  Gerry's plan: Put a couple (either Eric and Lisa or Rod and Chiara) up as the eviction nominations.  Divide and conquer.  Hmm...  Seems like that was the plan last year when they broke up Will and Shannon, and Will won.

12:30PM BBT: The (POV) Meeting Begins.  This is when Eric will announce if he intends to take either Marcellas or Amy off the eviction block.  All feeds are FotH for 20 minutes.  Eric left the nominations stand, no surprise there.

Rest of the Day:  I didn't take the day off, they did.  The rest of the day was filled with workouts, chess games, poker, and paranoia.

Tidbits:   Gerry was a contestant on the short-lived quiz show, "The Chair." Josh wants to be on "Fear Factor" next.  Jason's hosted several local telethons and hosted a radio program. Both couples in the fab four would like to go on "The Amazing Race." Turns out the doctor was wrong.  Although he doesn't know what was,  tests show it wasn't a spider bit on Lisa's butt.  The doc recommends paper toilet seat covers until the mystery is solved.
