Biography: Gene Autry: America's Singing Cowboy VHS

The Gene Autry Show VHS
Singing cowboy great Gene Autry starred in this show from 1950 to 1955 which saw him partake in a weekly western adventure. Armed with gun, guitar and the reins to his horse Champion, Gene battled the blackhats with such sidekicks as Pat Buttram, Fuzzy Knight, Alan Hale, Jr. and Chill Wills. Each four-episode volume runs about 120 min.

The Gene Autry Show, Vol. 1: Gold Dust Charlie [DVD](1950) DVD
When "Gold Dust Charlie" is discovered dead, Gene must find the killer; Autry and a jockey "Head for Texas" to find cattle rustlers ripping off a lady rancher; Gene looks into a series of stagecoach robberies in "The Doodle Bug"; and in "The Silver Arrow," Gene and Pat Buttram have to find the real culprit when another man is framed for a murder. Songs include "Cowboy Blues," "Sing Me a Song in My Saddle," "Ridin' Down the Canyon" and "Can't Shake the Sands of Texas from My Shoes." 120 min. Standard; Soundtrack: English Dolby mono.

Gene sets a slick trap for an underhanded saddle tramp staging phony hold-ups in "The Double Switch"; Gene becomes "The Star Toter," replacing a lawman who's gunned down by a robber; Gene and Pat Buttram try to aid an ex-con accused of a crime in "The Posse"; and Gene must clear a rancher's name and find the real person responsible for a murder in "Blackwater Valley Feud." Songs include "When the Bloom Is on the Sage," "Back in the Saddle Again," "Pretty Mary" and "That's My Home." 114 min. Standard; Soundtrack: English Dolby mono.
