Monday, July  14, 2003:  The Kissing Starts
1:30AM BBT I wanted to go to bed early tonight, and these goofballs start a make-out session.  Alison kisses Nate, and Justin and Dana start necking.  I don't trust any of them.  Alison met Justin at a bar when she saw her ex-boyfriend,  saw Justin, whom she didn't know and kissed him to annoy her watchful ex. Alison entered the BB house with another new boyfriend on the outside.  Dana got a lot of attention too, cuddling with Justin, and a foot massage from Robert.  When Alison finally got into bed to sleep, it was nearly 3:00AM and with Justin.  She told Justin was because the light's better for sleeping in his room.

3:20AM Nate can't sleep and joins David and Amanda on the patio.  Jack's still awake too, talking to Erik about the votes.  At 3:45AM Nate, David and Amanda were playing basketball.  Boy, I'm glad I don't have them for neighbors.  Nate did go back to sleep, but Dave and Amanda talked 'til dawn.

7:30AM Amanda heads to bed.  8:00AM David still up, talking to Erika.  This has been a learning experience for David.  He's heard from Amanda and Erika just how much game play and planning has gone on.  David wasn't aware that this much thinking has to be put into play, so soon.  By 11:15AM Jun and Jack are up, the others didn't reach consciousness until BB gives them a wake-up call at 11:35AM, David ignored it.  We're going to have some tired HGs competing for food today.

2:00PM Nap time, some inside, some in the sun. The division between Erika and the other girls is widening. Robert told Dana and Allison that Erika and Jack must be the next two to go, and they all agree. This could be a ruse, as Robert isn't part of their plan, and getting rid of ex's is. Dana says, it has to be Erika, because she is the "brains" of the two, and Robert agrees. Michelle tells Robert the restaurant manager waitress stories.

You Read it Here First  E! Just found out about Scott leaving on Saturday night.  But they did get comments from producer Arnold Shapiro, who said, ""I don't want anyone to think that Scott is a bad guy, because he certainly isn't. He just didn't respond well to the Big Brother experience and displayed some unacceptable behavior. We determined this was the right move to make for him and the other houseguests."  Full Details

6:30PM Quote of the Day:  "Like everyone here talks about everything, and I don't know anything."  Michelle Maradie

Nothing much has happened today.  CBS gave the grass a fresh coat of green die, it came out really blotchy.  The fake green is turtle safe,  they can (and do) eat it without any problems.  Alison gave Robert's hair a trim, she did well. David and Jack worked out on the punching bag. (click here)

7:30PM The HGs got a tie-dye kit and hula-hoops. David practiced with the hula hoop. (click here)

Observations:  I really thought that Amanda would be voted out and Jee would stay, but she's swung the boy's votes, it's really difficult to say for sure.  If she goes, Dave's gonna be grumpy...

Sunday, July  13, 2003:  Dana Passes on PoV

The protective wire on BB house windows form an "X" over a full moon on the night of Scott's departure.

1:00AM BBT In the wee hours of the morning we find Nathan and Ali plotting again.  Ali tells Nate that Dana said he has too many alliances. They worry that Dana might not be loyal to them because she spends so much time with Justin. They say that if Justin gets HoH, he'll put up Erika and Jack.  The conversation ends when Dana walks in.  Dana's plan for the final four is: Nate, Dana Alison and Jun. Dana feels her biggest enemy is Erika.  Nate wants to get rid of the five, and David and Jack.

Quotes of the Day:

David: "Those internet people are some sick fucks."

Robert: "I trust Nate.  I mean he has a Bible an' all"

Alison:  "I shouldn't say this, but I wanted sex more often than Justin."

2:15AM Alison gives Rob a backrub.  Little does he know he's a marked man.

10:45AM No wake-up from BB today.  Jun gets up around 11:00AM, followed by Dana, Robert,  Jack and Erika. Dana had another dream were she was kissing Justin. By noon they were doing ADLs.    1:00PM Moving to LA? Look up Robert.  He sounds like one of the most connected people in Hollywood.  He knows the Warner Bros., VP of Human Resources, owners of Gold's Gym, Carmen Electra's trainer, and he'll be happy to hook you up.

His line was smooth-   But not his chin
He took her out-  She took him in
To buy some-  Burma-Shave

2:30PM Veto Meeting.  Live feeds did not cover the meeting.  It appears the Dana did not use her power (as expected).  Jee wasn't aware he'd have to make a speech to plead his case.

8:30PM Got Beer, Got Hot Tub.  After a good workout the HGs got beer and relaxed in the hot tub.  All's quiet. 9:45PM Drinking games began. Dave and Robert didn't play, Michelle (19) just watched.

11:30PM The entire household plays a game of "pass the potato."  The object of the game is to pass a potato from one guest to the next (going boy, girl, boy) without using your hands, and without dropping the potato.  The purpose is to get some good body contact going.  The losers had to spin around until they got dizzy and fell.  This punishment didn't work on Alison, she was a figure skater and is used to spinning. I don't ever recall a BB house that spontaneously played a game with total participation  before.  They were in hysterics, and this is sure to make the broadcast. Afterwards when the six girls squeezed in the hammock, they promised to play pass-the-potato in the hot tub some night when they're all wet and slippery.

Saturday, July  11, 2003:  Scott is Expelled!
10:30AM BBT  BB woke the HGs.  Almost immediately the conversations all turn to how to un-do their plans and get Scott out first.  Jack has warned Scott as a friend that if he doesn't turn it down a notch and be careful he'll become a target.  Scott has apologized several times, but the girls don't find him sincere.  Dana really doesn't want to use the PoV.  By 1:00PM, some of the support for the idea reverted back to the original plan of removing 5 ex's first.

See Dana Teach All the Right Moves (silent)

5:30PM For the last hour Nate's been in bed reading the Bible. I thought it was going to be a very dull, but I was wrong.  David and Robert rate the ladies Rob's #1 is Dana, Dave picks Michelle.  This seemed like really tough decisions for the duo as there were different rakings based on dating and just hooking up, and the rankings kept changing.  Justin did his laundry while Scott shaved his arms, chest and knuckles, an act that seems to puzzle Jack.  BTW, If you close your eyes and listen to Jack, at times he sounds just like Ray Romano.

Scott & Amanda have a heart to heart.  Scott: "If I leave I think you could win this...."

8:35PM It all started when Scott got pissed and started throwing the chairs around.  BB called him to the DR, and he refused, well he started to go and stopped, "I'm not a piece of meat, you don't fuckin' own me. You want me, come out an' get me."  He went to the DR, and after a FotH, one of the HGs quipped "They're giving him his drugs, he should be OK now."  Jun addresses the camera: "OK, internet people... That’s what you paid your money for."  The Scott Incident

When Scott returned he had a long talk with Amanda.  9:35PM Scott apologized to everyone (again), Amanda cried and Jee offered his support.  Jack and Erika played lawn chess.  10:00PM  Scott gathered all the HGs in the living room and explained that he'd never hurt anyone in the house. Jun wasn't impress, Scott replied:  "I apologized to you but I'm not going to stick my head up your ass"  His words were not well received.

After this we had Alison in tears saying she can't stay in the house with Scott.  During Scott's apology, he shared with the group that he carries the HPV virus that causes genital warts. This caused him stress, and he rarely dated after breaking up with Amanda. Well, this has just added to the stress level Michelle and Alison were feeling and Alison is sobbing while she scrubs the toilet, fearing Scott's contamination (I must note that her fears are unfounded).  I wonder if they still have those toilet seat covers from when Lisa got the spider bite?

Scott Weintraub Expelled July 12th

10:45PM An odd site in the BB house, all four feeds show empty rooms? Ali and Dana where the first to return, back to the bathroom.  Dana: "Don't worry, they won't show this part, just all the drama leading up to it."  11:00PM Still no people.  CBS is trying hide something from us.  This could be another night were a HG disappears and is never heard from again, like the Justin from NY with Krista and the knife.... Moments later the girls returned for munchies in the HoH room and Jack, Justin and Nate were in the kitchen after playing b-ball. Scott's still in the DR, but might be leaving, they remarked the they make take him out another door. At 12:15AM Jack said that he hopes to see Scott after the show so he can talk to him.  For those of us studying the live feeds, this was the first it was acknowledged that he was no longer in the house. Later they wondered if he was on his way back to Chicago.

Friday, July  11, 2003:  Dana Wins PoV
10:15AM BBT  BB wakes the HGs (wish they could wake me, this is like watching paint dry). It took a second call to get David up, do you think the Army Rangers get a second call?

Betting Odds:  While we wait for something interesting to happen, I went odds checking.  Bally's Paris hasn't posted odds yet, but BetWWTS.com, an offshore gaming company, today announced odds on who will win.

After winning the first "Head of Household," BetWWTS.com has installed Nathan as the early favorite to win the grand prize at 4/1 odds (i.e., win $4 for every $1 bet). Erika and David are both listed with the second best odds to win at 5/1. Other early favorites include Dana, Scott and Jack, who all open at odds of 6/1, and Alison listed at 8/1.

With the original 8 housemates conspiring together to oust the exes as soon as possible, BetWWTS.com has listed most of the exes with the longest odds to win. Michelle, David's ex, and Justin, Alison's ex, are both at 12/1, while Amanda, Scott's ex, and Robert, Erika's ex, are listed at 25/1. Meanwhile, former couple Jun (15/1) and Jee (40/1) appear destined to be kicked out of the house by the other contestants.

"The producers of Big Brother really outdid themselves by introducing the 'ex factor' giving the show a chance to be the reality hit of the summer," said Simon Noble, CEO of BetWWTS.com. "We've installed most of the original housemates as favorites simply because they hold the majority and are plotting together to evict the exes first. But with reality shows, as the game progresses, anything can happen, so it wouldn't surprise us if one of our long shots catapulted themselves into contention for the grand prize."

Betting on Big Brother 4 will be available at BetWWTS.com throughout the show's entire 10 weeks.

12:45PM BBT:  The HGs were called outside for a competition. 1:05PM, LD, after competition. Although we don't know exactly what the competition was (involved ropes), but the prize was PoV, and Dana won. While feeding the turtles, Jack, Erika and David discuss a possible plot were the HoH competition is thrown so that and ex wins and will be convinced to nominate Scott.  None of the 8 will nominate Scott because of their pact, however they want him out. 1:40PM Announcements were to made and the feeds switched to FotH.

Broadcast:  Tonight's show featured the food challenge that won the HGs beer, wine, starches and snacks.  No meat, dairy or vegetables.  Justin and Alison came through by Justin being able to match Alison's weight in potatoes. Next they showed the Truth or Dare game they played on Tuesday night.  Editing made the game a little tamer than it was,  and the drama around game more than it was. Next was the nomination process, everyone seems to want Scott out, but Nathan and the other original 7 will stick with the plan of evicting the 5 ex's. Of course Jee and Amanda were selected, but we got to see the DR reactions which were pretty good.  I think the odds makers my want to do a revision.  See the eviction meeting.

Midnight Round-Up:  The scheming and plotting is absolutely dizzying. Basically, all the girls want out all the guys except Nate.  That'll work, 'cause Nate has no male friends in the house, but these girls aren't to be trusted one bit, he shouldn't trust Alison and Jun.  Of course he lost Amanda by nominating her.  Scott is still a huge target, with Justin a close second.  The guys really haven't done anything to deserve being targeted,  June wants Jee out (for no good reason) but is willing to wait, she's afraid he'll enjoy being sequestered in Mexico, man, that's tough.  Jee and Robert have developed a short-of kinship, they're really just two outsiders.  I'm not sure where Jack fit's in, Nate sees him as a threat.  It's an odd group this year.  No male bonding, no catfights, and no clear villains.   I want to root for Justin, but there's a good movement afoot to kick him out, and I don't see why.  Oh yeah, BB told David to stop lying on the bottom of the pool, it scares them.  He is, though,  allowed to throw himself against the punching bag.

Thursday, July  10, 2003:  Jee Gets a Haircut
Morning of Day 6  After an uneventful night, Jack, Erika, and Dana were the first to rise.  Big Brother had to wake the others close to noon.  The HGs diet over the past couple days has included a lot of PB&J,  apparently half the house got food, and the rest got PB&J, luckily Jun's on the winning team and has been doing most of the cooking.

Four exciting feeds for only $24.95.

The afternoon continued with sunning, swimming, whispering idle, and idol chatter.  Jee and Amanda have gotten close since they were put on the block together, but Jee has a girl back home.  Alison and Justin spent some time in the hammock.  Justins fine with everything, I think Alison still wants him out.  Nate seems to like Michelle,  Jun still thinks Nate is hot and dreamt of kissing him last night.  Jee got a haircut, kind of a group effort that took well over an hour, with a large audience.

Today's message on the plasma screen was "Expect the Unexpected" and the Veto Ø symbol. At 8:00PM BBT an extended FotH may indicate BB is setting up for the PoV challenge.  When the feeds returned at 8:15PM, it appeared everyone was in LD.  Nathan spent his down time reading the Bible.  At 8:30PM, BB gave them beer, and there was much rejoicing.  The gang hung out in the hot tub for a while.  I'm going to read BB3 week one and see if they were this dull.

There's been a lot of traffic in the HoH room tonight.  Nathan doesn't like David, he's loud and goofy sometimes. Alison sounded like she was putting in a pitch to get rid of Justin, Erika said she'd put up Justin if she gets HoH next week.  And they want to get rid of Scott.  They think Jack doesn't like Erika. Robert said he's knows he'll probably be up for eviction next week.  He says Erika wants him out, and it's not important to him to stay.

Trivia:  Alison says Justin has a teeny wieny (not her words) and has facial expressions during sex that she couldn't bear to watch.

Wednesday, July  9, 2003:  Plotting  - Jee & Amanda Nominated
1:00AM BBT  It looks like there are some holes in the alliance.  Allison and Justin don't hate each other the way they should.  There's a clique comprised of Nate, Alli, Justin and Jun.  The new hit list is: Amanda, Erika, Jack and Scott.

10:30AM BBT Jun is awake and in the yard catching some rays.  The others are still catching some zzzz's.  By noon they were all up.  The text deprived group struck gold at breakfast when they discovered trivia questions on the back of the oatmeal box. 1:00PM Scott tells the others that he suffered from anxiety attacks and although he's OK now, he lied to get on the show. One of the reasons he broke up with Amanda is that he never wanted to leave the house.  1:35PM

Scott still has feelings for her.

Nate explained how the nomination key box worked, and how the two guests that do not get keys are nominated (same as last year).

Broadcast:  Tonight's broadcast showed how the ex's selected their beds (they got to pick any bed, whether occupied or not).  Robert and Jee made enemies of the Dana and Alison who were evicted from their beds (bad move guys).  Then we saw the "Shiny Hiny" competition that got them the key to the hot tub. On day three they had the HoH contest.  Julie instructed the players to team-up in pairs.  With an odd number, 13, one would not play.  Scott volunteered.  Half the guests were strapped into lounge chairs with buckets of fish guts over their heads.  Their partners balanced on controls, if they slipped, the bucket would empty it's contents.  David slipped first, showering Jack with guts.  One-by-one HGs were eliminated leaving Alison and Nathan eligible to become HoH, with Scott making the tie-breaking decision that Nate would be the first HoH.  "Which two houseguests will Nathan nominate for eviction? Find out Friday night at 8:00, 7:00 central."  I think we'll all know way before that..

8:00PM  All four feeds switched to FotH for nomination prep.  When the feeds returned the mood of the house had changed.  Amanda was the first to say she's nominated.   Nate's reason:  He said he can't trust her.  Jee is also a nominee.  Scott's not pleased that his ex is up.  Now we just have to see what happens with the veto.

Midnight Wrap Up:  This group seems a little vanilla compared to previous seasons.  There are no clear heroes or villains-- Yet!  Although Scott has pledged himself to Amanda, in private she still expresses her dislike for him.  It's also hard to tell if Scott is sincere.  He laid on his bed muttering about a girl so ugly that "it's an injustice that we have to breath the same air,"  certainly doesn't sound like anyone in the house.  The girls can be catty, and the boys all get along good, but haven't bonded like Eric and Roddy did. Much like Jee,  Robert and Jack have done little to establish themselves.  They're all whispering as if they have a Danielle-Jason master-plan or scheme, but I don't think they do.

Trivia: Jun's birthday is July 19th.  The wrap party will be held on the set where "NYPD Blue" is filmed.

Tuesday, July  8, 2003:  Our First Night
The HGs moved in last week, but for us, it was the first night.  Starting with the broadcast-- Julie Chen welcomed the first eight guests and allowed Nathan, Scott and David into the house to select their rooms, followed be Allison, Erika and Jun.  The last of the eight were Jack and Dana. The eight chatted and got to know each other.

Following the meet and greet with the first eight, there was a food challenge.  One by one, in alphabetical order, Julie asked questions.  The HGs were perched on beams that would rise if they got the questions wrong.  Although they got many questions wrong. no one fell, so they received their food for the week.

Next the "X's" were brought in.  First there's Amanda, formerly engaged to Scott, he says she's messy.  Alison is the former girlfriend of Justin,  it was a 7-month relationship. Jee was with Jun, he found her too Americanized. David is Michelle's former boyfriend, they were young and the relationship ended out of sexual frustration. (Michelle is still just 19).   Erika is Robert's former girlfriend, she says he cheated on her, and he admits it.

It appears that Nathan has won HoH.  He's using the HoH room, and the HoH gift basket is there.  If I'm wrong you'll have to give me a couple days to get used to all the new faces and the rooms of the house.

At 6:55PM BBT, the HGs were just hangin' around.  One of the guys playing basketball, the girls on the patio, and already the feeds are lousy.  It also sounds as if they won a challenge that got them the key to the hot tub.

There was another food competition today, something involving potatoes, in which they won some food groups, lost some too.  Nominations for eviction are tomorrow.  It sounds like the two up will be Amanda and Jee.  David seems to have some concern that Nate will break the alliance of eight.

At 11:00PM BBT Jack, David, Scott and Erika were outside playing chess (this year the basketball court doubles as a chess board).  Inside they're playing truth or dare, Nate got a pedicure from Jun and Dana.  Then Allison gives him a lap dance.

Midnight  Nate and Michelle were under the covers of the HoH room bed.  Nothing heavy, just giggling.

Jun:  "My first crush was Kirk Cameron, so like I thought Nathan was so hot."

Saturday, July  5, 2003: Stats So Far
The HGs are all moved in.  Here's what's known so far:  As far as we know there's no gay person in the house this year.  And we think David is one of the nine with an ex in the house.

This year the HGs  have two palm-size Sulcata tortoises to take care of. They have an enclosure but the HGs are welcome to take them out and play with them in the backyard.

We don't have to wait for  The Smoking Gun, the producers already know more than one HG was charged with a  DUI violation.  Nothing of a violent nature has turned up in their backgrounds. Producer Allison Grodner addressed the rumor that some ex-houseguests might show up on the show by saying "They will indeed show up on the show in a 'where are they now' package that we're doing. We'll take a look at their lives since leaving BB3. That'll be somewhere, probably in the third or fourth week of the show."

Tuesday, July  8, 2003: Early Show Preview

Jason and Danielle check out the new bathtub in the Big Brother house.

Julie Chen gave us another preview of the BB4 house this morning on The Early Show.  Taking a tour of the redecorated digs were Jason Guy and Danielle Reyes of BB3.

The preview didn't say anything we didn't already know. There was a reminder that the rules have changed.  This year, only the last seven evicted HGs vote for the winner.  They will be sequestered after leaving the house so they won't see the DR scenes like last year.  This will allow the HGs to vent and tell us their devious plots without the jury knowing how they were used.

Monday, July  7, 2003: Brandon Replaced
The producers of BB4 have made a casting change to the previously announced group of HGs, increasing the "X Factor" from four couples to five couples. Brandon Showalter has been replaced with a fifth ex who will be revealed along with the remaining four HGs on tomorrow's premiere
Sunday, July  6, 2003: Shocking!
Brandon's profile and picture have been removed from CBS.com's BB site.  It's been confirmed that Brandon has been fired by the producers.  The web site bb4bbq.com has comments from Brandon, however there's the usual post-show gag order, so the circumstances aren't clear.  Brandon's had a web site of his own, which is now off line.  According to the BB3BBQ site, Brandon's site said:

"I can summarize. Basically I was not going to sacrifice my integrity by slutting around on the show. Although the "sound bite" on promo's has me stating that I'm going to flirt to manipulate other HG's, the producers were quick to notice my loyalty to my lady. I think the mold they were looking for looked like me, but had no morals. During the preliminary interviews with producers, I told them that me and my girl were parting ways. Things did not go that way and they found out. Throughout the week in sequestering they came to realize how committed I was. I think they wanted to stir the pot sexually, now I'm sure of it by seeing how they angled my interview comments. I'm not the playboy they had anticipated. Looking at the bright side of things. I still have my summer ahead of me, my 10 year HS reunion in 3 weeks, and I still have my integrity."

Later the text was changed to this:

"If your here to find out why I was axed from the Reality show BigBrother4, sorry but your going to have to wait until I get the OK from Arnold to speak my mind. I will be happy to hook anyone up with any answers once I'm sure that I'm in the clear."

Later still the site was gone.

Monday, June 30, 2003: Some Secrets Announced

The Groovy New Table

Big Brother 4: The X Factor   Executive producer Arnold Shapiro has been making the rounds promoting "Big Brother 4."  So far we've learned that eight people -- four ex-couples -- are going to get the surprise of their lives when they discover that their housemates are ex-boyfriends or -girlfriends who are also vying for the $500,000 prize.

A Swingin' New Bedroom Design for BB4

Three single men and two single women will also be part of the mix. They'll enter the house first along with half of each of the former couples; the exes will join them later in the premiere. The players have already been sequestered, so none of them know about the twist. None of the four couples were married or had children, although some did live together for a time. The reasons they broke up, and the lingering feelings, are different in each case.

The contestants, who range in age from 19 (hmm, too young to drink, on TV) to 59, will be introduced Thursday (July 3) on CBS' web site. here and on the pages of Entertainment Weekly. The house has a new retro 60's look.  The power of Veto, last season's big new twist will remain in play for this season too, and they promise a new twist to the game as well.  Still no explanation for the 13th guest.

Prior to the evening start of of BB4,  CBS's "The Early Show" has asked Danielle and Jason from Big Brother 3 to give a tour of the new Big Brother 4 house for their viewers. Check your local listings for more information.

House Guest Profiles

The game started with eight players.  When Julie Chen announced to them that they would be joined by their ex's, they formed an instant alliance agreeing to evict the ex's first, no matter what. Five more guests where add, those additions are marked by the red "X"  Will the guests stick to their plans?  Only time will tell.
